KOVATCH'S WALK-OFF SINGLE GIVES SURF SECOND STRAIGHT WIN July 6 Recap  Atlantic City, N.J. – CF Billy Kovatch (left) rapped a ninth-inning RBI single to bring home the game-winning run as the Atlantic City Surf defeated the New Jersey Jackals, 2-1, in a Can-Am League game on Sunday evening at Bernie Robbins Stadium.
The contest was marked by superb pitching on both sides. Atlantic City’s Adam Cox, who came into the game leading the league with 60 strikeouts, went eight innings, allowing one run on five hits while fanning 11. | SURF PLAYERS AMONG CAN-AM LEAGUE LEADERS Cox leads loop in K's; Burrus second in steals  Surf starting pitcher Adam Cox (left) struck out 11 New Jersey hitters in eight innings of work on Sunday evening, giving him 44 K’s in his last 4 starts, and a league-leading 71 strikeouts this season, 13 more than the second-place hurler.
Cox is currently seventh in the league with a 2.56 ERA, one spot behind Brian Rodaway, in sixth at 2.03. The Surf pitching staff is tied with Quebec with 281 strikeouts, most in the league. |
